Job Summary

The School Nurse is responsible for treating student injuries and illnesses while providing health advice to pupils, parents, guardians, and staff. This role involves administering medication, supporting students with chronic conditions, and advocating for the physical, emotional, mental, and social health of all school community members.

The School Nurse will identify actual and potential health problems, provide case management services, offer expertise in school health services, and promote health education throughout the school.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide first aid and emergency care to pupils and staff during school hours
• Administer prescribed medications and monitor treatment plans for students with health needs
• Conduct routine health screenings, including vision, hearing, and growth assessments
• Maintain accurate, confidential health records and immunisation documentation for all pupils
• Educate pupils and staff on hygiene, nutrition, and general wellness practices
• Implement infection prevention and control measures across the school
• Liaise with parents and healthcare providers regarding student medical issues and updates
• Ensure the school's sick bay is clean, stocked, and appropriately equipped
• Oversee the hygienic preparation, handling, and serving of school meals, ensuring safe practices
• Support the development and enforcement of school health and safety policies
• Undertake other duties as directed

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Minimum of 3 years' work experience in a school setting
