Regional Energy Policy Advisor

About the Position

GIZ Nigeria seeks a qualified Regional Energy Policy Advisor to support the effective development, implementation, and monitoring of national energy action plans across ECOWAS member states.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the implementation of national action plans for ECOWAS countries to effectively develop, implement, and monitor regional energy policy
• Develop national energy action plans and facilitate their implementation
• Organize consultation workshops on energy policy with ECOWAS member states
• Support activities related to transposition and adaptation of regional energy policy into national frameworks
• Prepare monitoring and evaluation frameworks to assist ECOWAS in tracking energy policy implementation
• Provide guidance on methodology and technical support to the ECOWAS Commission
• Contribute to project monitoring, evaluation, and reporting activities
• Ensure integration of gender aspects across all project activities
• Support capitalization of project experiences and ensure achievements are reflected in sectoral policies and strategies

Required Qualifications

• Master's degree in Public Policy, Energy Economics, Energy Law, International Relations, or related field

Required Professional Experience

• Minimum 15 years of professional experience in Energy Information Systems
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience supporting ECOWAS institutions
• Minimum 5 years in development and implementation of energy policy
• Proven experience supporting public and private institutions in ECOWAS member states
• Strong understanding of the institutional framework of policies, strategies, and plans in the energy sector within the ECOWAS region
• Relevant experience in capitalization and knowledge management activities
