Job Summary

Provide procurement and logistics support to ensure that the Procurement/Logistics section's activities are timely, cost-effective, and meet customer expectations efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute procurement/logistics plans to support business and operational needs based on requirements stated in business plans and budgets
• Make recommendations for cost savings and more efficient and effective procurement/logistics methods
• Manage the procurement/logistics process to minimize additional costs such as demurrage and penalties
• Execute established Procurement/Logistics plans in line with stated policies and procedures to support operational requirements
• Review Procurement/Logistics procedures on an ongoing basis and make recommendations on best value options available
• Oversee the smooth running of procurement/logistics processes and procedures
• Remove obstacles to ensure optimal delivery of services to the highest standards and achieve high levels of customer satisfaction
• Undertake vendor performance appraisals with support on key logistic vendors
• Liaise with Finance Department and local banks on opening of Letters of Credit (LCs) for imports and payment of clearing fees and duties
• Collect necessary paperwork for import/export transactions
• Coordinate imports/exports with agents and local authorities
• Ensure all statutory requirements and permits are in place prior to importation (SONCAP, NAFDAC, etc.)
• Interface regularly with Government Officials as required
• Verify custom clearing agents' bills and other bills presented by stakeholders including shipping companies
• Produce and provide periodic updates and management reports covering service ordering, order tracking, purchase orders, contracts, and related documentation
