Job Summary

The Procurement Officer is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing raw materials, especially agricultural produce, required for production. This role supports the Procurement Manager in ensuring timely supply, quality assurance, and cost-effective procurement while maintaining strong relationships with local suppliers and farmers.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Source and procure agricultural raw materials in line with production schedules and quality standards
• Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, especially smallholder farmers and aggregators
• Negotiate prices, terms, and delivery timelines to ensure the best value for the company
• Track and monitor purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery and minimize stockouts
• Liaise with quality control and warehouse teams to ensure materials meet required standards
• Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier performance
• Support data collection and reporting for procurement-related KPIs
• Assist in developing and maintaining supplier relationships and contracts
• Stay informed on market trends, seasonal price fluctuations, and commodity availability

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Agriculture, or a related field (A degree in Agricultural Extension would be an added advantage)
• 3–5 years of procurement experience, preferably in agribusiness, FMCG, or food processing
• Strong understanding of agricultural value chains and local sourcing dynamics
