Preoperative Nurse at Hospital For Trauma and Surgery

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated, disciplined, and proactive Preoperative Nurse to join our surgical team at Hospital For Trauma and Surgery in Lagos, Nigeria. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the Operating Theatre (OT) runs smoothly, maintaining a sterile environment, and providing essential support to surgeons, anaesthetists, and nursing staff before, during, and after surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating theatre with necessary equipment, sterile drapes, and instruments required for specific surgeries
• Safely transport patients to and from the ward to the operating theatre and assist in correct positioning on the operating table
• Maintain strict aseptic techniques, clean and disinfect the theatre between cases, and ensure proper disposal of clinical waste
• Provide non-clinical assistance to the surgical team, such as adjusting lights, opening sterile packs, and handling unsterile equipment
• Accurately maintain all required logs, including the Linen Entry/Exit Register, equipment inventory, and security logs
• Assist in restocking surgical supplies and ensure all necessary consumables are available for the day's surgical list

Required Qualifications

• Minimum Diploma in Health Assistance
• At least 1-2 years of experience in a hospital environment, preferably within a surgical or emergency department
