About the Role

We are recruiting a Power Plant Operator to monitor and manage the operations of turbine systems and associated equipment at our facility in Lagos.

Purpose of the Job

Monitoring the operations of the turbine and ensuring safe, efficient plant performance.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Run the operations of the turbine and associated equipment
• Ensure timely and up-to-date information on the operations of the turbine and other associated plant equipment
• Collate and interpret data and results on the operations of the turbine
• Conduct physical inspection of equipment including turbine
• Record and analyze data on power output, water levels, and system performance
• Report major issues to the maintenance team
• Prepare operational reports
• Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations
• Participate in safety drills and report any hazardous conditions or incidents
• Ensure safe shutdown and startup of plant systems as needed
• Prepare periodic reports for the attention of the Head, Generation
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Shift-In-Charge

Minimum Educational & Professional Qualifications

• Higher National Diploma (HND) in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum of three (3) years substantial practical relevant post-qualifying hands-on working experience, preferably in the planning, design, construction, operations, and maintenance of major engineering works
• Applicants with actual hydropower plant operations, maintenance, refurbishment/overhaul, modernization, and upgrade experience will have a strong added advantage

Attributes and Competencies

• Knowledge of power generation process and safety requirements
• Knowledge of standard operating procedures with respect to plant operation and maintenance
• Technical troubleshooting skills
• Data interpretation, report writing, and presentation skills
