## Title: Midwife/Nurse Assistant

About the Role

Lindii Peace Foundation (LPF) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Midwife/Nurse Assistant in Lagos, Nigeria. In this role, you will provide comprehensive obstetrical care to pregnant women and their babies, including follow-up before, during, and after delivery. You will work according to required standards, obstetrical/reproductive health protocols, universal hygienic practices, and newborn care standards under the supervision of a specialist doctor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide obstetrical care to pregnant women and their babies with follow-up before, during, and after delivery to ensure health conditions and prevent post-delivery complications
  • Implement PMTCT (Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission) protocols in ANC/delivery and PNC consultations, including pre-counseling, testing, and post-counseling
  • Collaborate with the medical doctor and/or nurse in the management of Sexual Violence cases
  • Assess feasibility for referral of pregnant women from Traditional Birth Attendants (TBAs) to the OPD/MCH for medical evaluation and/or complicated deliveries
  • Ensure hygiene and sterilization criteria (including universal precautions) are met according to required standards
  • Perform cleaning and minor maintenance of biomedical equipment used in maternity activities, following user manuals and protocols, and alert supervisors of malfunctions
  • Guarantee regular and ongoing supply of drugs and equipment required for maternity activities, including monitoring, consumption control, and ordering
  • Properly follow up all newborn babies from delivery until discharge
  • Inform mothers and relatives about the importance of breastfeeding, vaccination, and potential complications resulting from harmful traditional practices
  • Ensure patients' right to privacy and confidentiality is respected
  • Supervise that administrative procedures for admissions and hospitalizations comply with LPF protocols
  • Verify patients are properly informed and receive required documents (birth certificate, vaccination card, etc.)
  • Participate in the organization of the maternity ward in collaboration with other midwives and the maternity ward supervisor
