Mental Health Nurse at Androcare Fertility Centre

Job Summary

The Mental Health Nurse provides psychological, emotional, and psychosocial support to patients and couples undergoing fertility assessment and treatment. The role focuses on helping clients manage stress, anxiety, grief, and emotional distress commonly associated with infertility journeys. The nurse also supports staff wellness initiatives and ensures mental health integration in patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Mental Health Support

• Provide professional counseling and emotional support to patients and couples before, during, and after fertility treatment
• Conduct initial psychological assessments as part of the patient intake process
• Identify early signs of emotional distress, depression, or anxiety and provide appropriate intervention or referral
• Offer coping strategies for stress, fear of treatment outcomes, and relationship strain
• Support patients experiencing grief, miscarriage, or failed treatment cycles

Integration with Fertility Care

• Collaborate with fertility doctors, nurses, and coordinators to ensure holistic care planning that includes emotional well-being
• Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions to advocate for patients' mental and emotional needs
• Educate patients on the mind-body connection and its impact on fertility outcomes
• Provide psychological preparation sessions prior to invasive procedures (e.g., egg retrieval, embryo transfer)

Staff Wellness & Support

• Offer debriefing or stress management support to clinical and administrative staff exposed to emotionally challenging situations
• Assist HR in developing wellness programs or mental health awareness sessions for staff

Documentation & Compliance

• Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in line with the clinic's data protection and ISO 15189 standards
• Document all counseling sessions, referrals, and patient progress
