## Title: Medical Officer

About the Role

We are seeking a proactive, compassionate, and clinically sound Medical Officer to join our medical team at Equity Specialist Hospitals and Diagnostic Centre. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality medical care, support clinical decision-making, manage patients across various units, and work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure excellent patient outcomes.

This role requires strong clinical judgment, good communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive medical evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for patients across outpatient and inpatient units
  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, order investigations, and interpret diagnostic tests
  • Participate actively in ward rounds, emergency care, and clinical reviews
  • Manage medical emergencies promptly and efficiently
  • Collaborate with consultants, nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare staff to deliver coordinated care
  • Document patient history, treatment plans, progress notes, and referrals accurately
  • Counsel patients and families on diagnosis, treatment options, lifestyle changes, and preventive care
  • Ensure compliance with clinical protocols, hospital policies, and quality standards
  • Assist in minor surgical procedures and provide pre- and post-operative care
  • Participate in clinical audits, case reviews, and continuous quality improvement initiatives
  • Support training and supervision of junior medical staff and interns (where applicable)
  • Adhere strictly to infection prevention and control practices
  • Carry out other duties as assigned by the Medical Director

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS/MBChB) from a recognized institution
  • Valid practicing license from the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN)
  • Minimum of 2–5 years post-NYSC clinical experience, preferably in a hospital setting
