Medical Laboratory Scientist at ISN Medical

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role located in Ibadan, Oyo State. The Medical Laboratory Scientist is responsible for performing diagnostic tests on patient specimens to support accurate diagnosis, treatment, and disease prevention.

This role involves analyzing biological samples using specialized equipment, ensuring precision and reliability in test results, and maintaining compliance with laboratory protocols and safety standards. The scientist works collaboratively with healthcare professionals to deliver timely and high-quality laboratory data that informs clinical decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic tests on patient specimens with precision and accuracy
• Analyze biological samples using specialized laboratory equipment
• Ensure compliance with laboratory protocols and safety standards
• Maintain detailed and accurate records of test results
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality laboratory data
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and resolve technical problems
• Manage multiple tasks effectively while maintaining quality under pressure

Required Qualifications

• HND or BMLS/BSc in Medical Laboratory Science, Life Sciences, or related field
• Minimum of Second Class Upper (2:1) or Upper Credit grade classification
• Valid practicing license from the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN)
• 2–5 years post-NYSC experience in a medical diagnostics laboratory

• Strong knowledge of laboratory tests, procedures, equipment handling, and analytical techniques
• High accuracy and attention to detail with a quality-driven mindset
• Proficiency with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and digital reporting tools
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multitask and work effectively under pressure
• Commitment to confidentiality, ethics, and professional conduct

Preferred Experience

• Experience in one or more of the following areas: Hematology, Clinical Chemistry, Microbiology, Immunology, Molecular Biology, or Histopathology
