Medical Lab Scientist at Charitos BO Hospital

About the Role

We are seeking a qualified Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team at Charitos BO Hospital. This position is based in Life Camp, Abuja (FCT).

Key Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy on adults and children
• Operate and manage automatic hematology and chemistry analyzers, pipettes, thermometers, balances, and other laboratory apparatus
• Process and label specimens, sort and record them, and organize all information into the computer system
• Use a Lab Information Management System for specimen tracking, results entry, and reporting
• Perform laboratory inventory management and maintain and update laboratory checklists regularly
• Operate sophisticated equipment and instruments to perform diagnostic tests and assays following standard operating procedures
• Process and maintain quality results by running standards and controls, verifying equipment function through routine maintenance and advanced troubleshooting
• Calibrate equipment utilizing approved testing procedures and monitor quality control measures and protocols
• Identify and communicate abnormal results by alerting supervisory personnel, patients, physicians, or nurses
• Provide assistance in various functions of the laboratory
• Document patient and family education
• Develop and provide teaching plans utilizing the patient education manual
• Communicate with patients and family members in a professional, compassionate, and respectful manner to facilitate healthcare delivery as a team member
• Lead and encourage a multidisciplinary approach for patient discharge
• Enhance laboratory services and reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value
• Contribute to a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers by following established standards and procedures
