Lead, Protection Control and Metering at Nigerian Electricity Supply Corporation (Nigeria) Limited (NESCO)

About the Role

Nigerian Electricity Supply Corporation (Nigeria) Limited (NESCO) seeks a dedicated professional to lead the protection, control, and metering function. This role is responsible for overseeing the installation, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of protection, control, and metering systems to ensure the reliability and safety of the distribution network.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the installation, testing, calibration, and maintenance of protection, control, and metering systems across the distribution network
• Ensure the reliability and accuracy of metering systems, including smart meters, current transformers, and voltage transformers
• Conduct regular testing and maintenance of protection relays and associated control equipment
• Develop and implement a preventive maintenance program for all protection and metering devices
• Lead investigations into equipment failures or protection malfunctions, ensuring root cause analysis is conducted and corrective actions are implemented
• Provide technical support for troubleshooting complex issues in protection, control, and metering systems
• Ensure all protection, control, and metering activities comply with regulatory standards and industry best practices
• Stay current with national and international standards related to protection and metering systems
• Manage the design and implementation of new protection, control, and metering systems or upgrades to existing systems
• Coordinate with vendors and contractors for the procurement and installation of equipment
• Conduct risk assessments for protection and metering operations

Team Leadership

• Supervise and mentor a team of technicians and engineers, providing guidance and support for technical and operational challenges
• Conduct performance evaluations and identify training needs for team members
• Promote a culture of safety within the team and ensure all team activities adhere to safety protocols

Administrative and Compliance

• Maintain accurate records of all protection and metering equipment and their maintenance schedules
