Job Purpose
The HSE Officer is responsible for ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations and policies at the aluminium and copper recycling plant. The role involves implementing and monitoring safety programs, conducting risk assessments, and promoting a culture of safety and environmental responsibility within the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Health and Safety Management
- Develop, implement, and maintain the plant's health and safety policies and procedures
- Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and prepare detailed reports with recommendations to prevent recurrence
- Organize and conduct health and safety training programs for employees and contractors
- Monitor the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) by all employees
- Ensure compliance with local and international health and safety regulations
Environmental Management
- Monitor and enforce environmental compliance, including waste management, pollution control, and recycling practices
- Ensure the plant adheres to environmental laws, standards, and permits
- Work with operations to minimize environmental impact and promote sustainability initiatives
- Conduct regular environmental impact assessments and recommend improvements
Emergency Preparedness
- Develop and update emergency response plans and procedures
- Conduct emergency drills and simulations to ensure preparedness among employees
- Act as the point of contact for external agencies during emergencies, audits, and inspections
Reporting and Documentation
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, audits, incident investigations, and training activities
- Prepare and submit periodic HSE performance reports to management
- Ensure documentation aligns with regulatory requirements
