Job Summary
We are seeking a Head of Credit to lead our expanding credit team. In this role, you will analyze retail credit proposals to identify, measure, and mitigate risk, with the objective of creating performing assets and ensuring profitable lending for the Bank.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee all managerial duties for loan review, compliance, collections, and credit analysis functions
- Ensure adherence to Bank policies and practices as well as applicable regulatory and governmental requirements (CBN, NDIC)
- Implement and maintain systems of credit analysis and quality assurance for all loans as directed by Board directives
- Assign credit ratings in conjunction with loan loss reserve analysis
- Periodically examine loan documentation and files before and after credit approvals to ensure credit and collateral documentation accuracy, regulatory compliance, and loan policy conformance
- Review technical exceptions and deficiencies; maintain reports of non-performing loans and exceptions for the Credit Committee
- Prepare written analysis on large ticket transactions, aggregate lending versus indebtedness for individual obligators and obligors in specific industries, complex loans, and weak loans
- Identify problem loans and review them with appropriate committees on a periodic basis
- Discuss the status of problem loans with key stakeholders and make recommendations regarding future credit information needs
- Identify loans meeting non-accrual or charge-off criteria
- Represent the Bank in industry-related discussions and policy formulation within the financial services sector, ensuring the Bank's interests are protected
Qualifications, Competency & Skills Required
- Minimum of First Degree in a numerate or business-related discipline
- Relevant professional certifications such as Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Professional Risk Manager (PRM)
