Geological Assistant at African Industries Group (AIG)

Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified candidate to assist in the execution of exploration projects within the country. The role is responsible for executing all exploration activities assigned to a given project, including the generation of quality data, maintaining geological tools, and providing logistical support.

Principal Accountabilities

• Under the direction of the geologist, implement the earthmoving programme in the field by coordinating contractor work to ensure road access and drill pads are constructed to HSEC and project standards
• Coordinate and undertake sampling, sample collection, and dispatch under geologist direction to meet project objectives
• Undertake field-level coordination of the project vehicle fleet, including transportation of people and equipment, driving duties, and vehicle maintenance
• Coordinate the work of labourers and samplers in the field under geologist direction, ensuring compliance with HSEC and project requirements
• Ensure equipment is maintained in good working condition, properly serviced, operational, tagged in compliance with safety systems, and prepared for transportation
• Assist technical exploration teams with executing geological, geochemical, and geophysical surveys, mapping, sampling, and community liaison
• Ensure purchasing and receiving of project requirements are met
• Ensure the acquisition of exploration data is conducted diligently and according to established data acquisition and management protocols and standards
• Adopt operational excellence across all exploration activities through continuous improvement initiatives and establishment of quality as a way of life

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

• Technical Diploma, Trade Certificate, or any related qualification
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience working in remote, field-based environments
• Valid Driver's License
