Gas Generator / Mechanical Engineer / Mechanic at Mikano

About the Role

We are looking for a qualified Gas Generator Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Mikano in Kano. In this role, you will be responsible for the assembly, quality control, and mechanical integrity of generator sets throughout the production process.

Key Responsibilities

• Demonstrate expertise in steel fabricating materials used in generator sets, including base tanks, base frames, crossbars, and related components
• Determine correct sizes and quantities of raw materials for each capacity (nuts, bolts, washers, etc.)
• Perform machine balancing and safely operate cranes to lift and carry heavy equipment
• Verify generator set balance, including engine-alternator alignment, crossbar anti-vibration mounting, and radiator assembly
• Transfer completed generator sets to the next production stage in excellent condition without damage to radiators, alternators, or other components
• Determine appropriate quantities of oil and coolant for each series
• Identify and report any abnormal spare parts or raw materials before or after coupling
• Properly operate and adjust specialized tools including cranes, trolleys, torque wrenches, vernier calipers, and air ratchets
• Stay current on problem-solving techniques for common issues such as white and black smoke, air in systems, leakage, abnormal sounds, and vibration
• Read and understand generator set manuals, promptly reporting any unclear specifications
• Maintain safe working practices by properly storing tools to prevent damage to materials and switching off all machines at the end of each workday
• Complete additional tasks as assigned by team leaders or supervisors

Required Qualifications

• Education: OND, HND, B.Eng., or related field degree
• Experience: Minimum 5 years of work experience in a similar industry
• Extensive knowledge in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering fields
