Position Summary
The Education Assistant (Volunteer) will support the planning, coordination, and delivery of education and learning activities in schools, learning centers, and community-based programs. The volunteer will assist in tutoring, mentoring, classroom management, and community outreach aimed at improving literacy and school attendance.
This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about education, community development, and child empowerment.
Implementation Locations
Borno, Adamawa, Yobe, Katsina, Zamfara, and Sokoto States, Nigeria
Key Responsibilities
- Assist teachers and facilitators in delivering lessons, tutorials, and literacy sessions for children and youth
- Support classroom management by helping prepare teaching materials and maintaining a conducive learning environment
- Conduct after-school or weekend learning clubs to support children struggling with literacy, numeracy, or life skills
- Help organize school-based activities, such as reading clubs, debates, and educational competitions
- Participate in community sensitization on the importance of education, especially for girls and marginalized children
- Support data collection for education monitoring, including attendance tracking and progress reports
- Assist in organizing teacher training workshops and distributing learning materials
- Identify learners with special needs and support appropriate referrals or interventions
- Document success stories and lessons learned from education activities
- Perform other duties related to education support as assigned by the supervisor
