Direct Material Buyer (Packaging) at Alfred & Victoria Associates

Job Summary & Purpose

We are seeking a motivated professional to join our team as a Direct Material Buyer specializing in Packaging. In this role, you will be responsible for selecting and facilitating the purchase of direct materials (packaging) to ensure the company meets its production objectives efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and review prospective suppliers based on quality and reliability standards
• Connect with the Regional Procurement team to engage with suppliers and negotiate pricing, payment terms, and contract details
• Draft and manage supplier contracts while ensuring compliance with agreed terms and conditions
• Establish and maintain schedules that adhere to quality standards from suppliers
• Maintain ethical relationships with all suppliers
• Identify cost-saving opportunities through volume discounts, effective negotiation, and exploration of alternative sourcing options
• Actively track all Form M Applications and Purchasing Orders
• Track all LC (Letter of Credit) applications, including amendments
• Track and monitor shipping documents and shipments
• Liaise with Group companies overseas in the sourcing of capital items, ensuring suitability of supplier documents for Nigerian purposes
• Provide advice on procurement processes, supplier obligations, and local availability of similar items
• Track costs and review funding requests against budgeted amounts
• Execute food safety responsibilities as assigned by the department head
• Prevent introduction of food safety hazards into products during assigned duties
• Act as the first escalation point for local business users and drive resolution in line with Procurement policies
• Coordinate local contract implementation tasks and participate in contract implementation plans
• Perform other related tasks as assigned by the line manager
