Job Summary
The Deputy Head Nurse will provide clinical leadership and support to the nursing team, ensuring high-quality patient care and effective management of nursing services. Responsibilities
- Provide clinical guidance and support to nursing staff, promoting best practices and evidence-based care
- Assist the Head Nurse in managing the nursing team, including staff development, performance management, and mentorship
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care and effective communication
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and standards to improve nursing care and patient outcomes
- Manage and allocate nursing resources, including staff, equipment, and supplies
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards
- Provide education and training to patients, families, and staff on various healthcare topics
- Analyze data and trends to inform nursing practice and improve patient care
Requirements
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BNSc) or equivalent qualification
- Registered Nurse (RN) and duly licensed with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN)
- Master's degree in Nursing or a related field is an added advantage
- Minimum of ten (10) years post-qualification experience, with at least five (5) years in a leadership/administrative role
- Strong clinical skills, with experience in managing complex patient care situations
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to work in high-pressure environments and manage multiple priorities
- Sound knowledge of nursing protocols
