Cook / Cleaner (Maternity Cover) at Medecins Sans Frontieres

Main Purpose

Prepare meals for patients and MSF staff according to hygiene standards and security rules to ensure their nutritional needs are met. Execute housekeeping, cleaning, and tidying activities to maintain public and staff private areas in good condition.

Cooking Responsibilities

• Prepare meals for staff according to scheduled meal times
• Follow all hygiene standards and security rules consistently
• Monitor food stock levels and prepare shopping lists for timely procurement
• Ensure meals are served on time
• Set tables before meals and clean up after each meal as applicable
• Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen facilities, utensils, and equipment
• Provide drinkable water throughout the day, including filling filters, changing bottles, and replacing batteries as necessary
• Care for all provided equipment
• Maintain an inventory of MSF kitchen utensils and equipment (plates, glasses, cutlery, cookware, etc.) and ensure their integrity
• Report important information to supervisor (lost items, theft, damage, deterioration, incidents)

Cleaning Responsibilities

• Clean bedrooms, bathrooms, toilets, and other rooms by brushing and mopping
• Clean and tidy tables (coffee tables, dining tables, kitchen tables, cookers, etc.)
• Open windows in the morning and close them in the evening
• Manage waste disposal
• Wash curtains every 3 months
• Wash duvets and blankets monthly (if not using duvet cover) or every 3 months (if using duvet cover)
• Wash sofas and pillowcases
• Ensure premises are properly locked (doors and windows) when leaving
• Ensure all appliances are turned off and secure before leaving (washing machine, dryer, fan, stove, etc.)
• Report maintenance issues to supervisor
