Position Overview

A reputable organization seeks a skilled and experienced Building Engineer to oversee building construction, maintenance, and renovation projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all building works are executed according to approved designs, specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise building construction works on-site to ensure quality, safety, and compliance with approved drawings
• Coordinate and monitor artisans, contractors, and subcontractors
• Interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings
• Ensure that materials used meet required standards and specifications
• Conduct regular site inspections and prepare progress reports
• Monitor project timelines, budgets, and resource utilization
• Ensure compliance with building codes, health, safety, and environmental regulations
• Identify construction defects and recommend corrective actions
• Support maintenance, renovation, and facility management activities
• Liaise with consultants, engineers, and regulatory authorities as required

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or HND in Building Technology, Building Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field
• Minimum of 3–5 years of practical experience in building construction and site supervision
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and site management
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
• Good understanding of health and safety practices on construction sites
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Good communication and team coordination abilities

Preferred Qualifications

• Membership or certification with a professional body (e.g., NIOB, COREN)
• Experience working on residential, commercial, or mixed-use developments
