About the Role
The Nigerian Red Cross Society is seeking a Branch Disaster Management Officer to join our team in Lagos. This is an opportunity to lead critical disaster preparedness and emergency response efforts at the branch level.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish strong collaboration and cooperation with State Government and other actors in disaster preparedness and emergency response at state and divisional levels
- Support effective stockpiling of relief materials at branch level and follow guidelines and procedures for stock replenishment in collaboration with NHQ DM department
- Develop and strengthen robust emergency and disaster response teams at branches and divisions in collaboration with Health, WASH/Shelter and other relevant departments
- Ensure DM activities are conducted in accordance with NRCS code of conduct and principles of transparency and accountability
- Establish an efficient and motivated team of volunteers with systems to ensure retention and capacity building
- Maintain accurate and regular records of all volunteers in the VDBM system
- Undertake regular assessments of emergency response and mobilize assistance from NRCS stock and external sources, including Movement partners
- Prepare quarterly and annual progress reports on achievements and challenges for stakeholder distribution
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Management, Disaster Management, Project Management, or equivalent field of study
- Minimum 3 years' experience in Disaster Management and Emergency Response
