Auto Mechanic (Heavy Duty Trucks)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Duty Truck Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy-duty trucks and trailers including Howo, Man, Atros, and Foton models. This role ensures safe and efficient vehicle operation through expertise in diesel and CNG engines, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, and computerized diagnostics, while adhering to safety and quality standards. Key Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical and hydraulic issues in heavy-duty trucks and trailers
• Perform routine maintenance including engine overhauling, transmission servicing, oil changes, brake inspections, and air system and fluid checks
• Repair or replace engines, transmissions, axles, suspensions, steering, and braking systems
• Use diagnostic tools and computerized systems to identify faults
• Conduct preventive maintenance to reduce downtime and extend vehicle life
• Test vehicles after repairs to ensure proper performance and safety
• Maintain accurate service and repair records
• Comply with workplace safety policies and environmental regulations

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Proven experience as a heavy truck or diesel mechanic
• Strong knowledge of diesel and CNG engines, air brake systems, and electrical systems
• Ability to read technical manuals and diagnostic reports
• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
• Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Physical ability to lift heavy parts and work in various positions

Required Experience

• Minimum of 10 years of cognate experience as an auto mechanic

Preferred Qualifications

• OND or SSCE/NECO certification
• Trade Tests I, II, III

Working Conditions

• Work may be performed in a workshop or outdoor environment
• Exposure to noise, grease, and heavy equipment
• May require shift work, overtime, weekends, or on-call duties
