Job Summary

The Audit Intern is responsible for recording transactions, compiling and analyzing data, performing audits, assisting with budgets and financial forecasting, computing taxes, and reporting findings to management. This role provides financial information to management by researching and analyzing accounting data and preparing comprehensive reports.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage accounting systems and processes, including system access and reconciliation of records
• Participate in preparing and reviewing analysis of cash forecasts
• Monitor costs and expenditures against budgets and forecasts
• Assist in preparing year-end accounts
• Assist in preparing quarterly forecasts and annual budgets
• Work with the accountant to review all internal financial controls and identify improvements to business processes
• Support finance and accounting activities of the company
• Calculate applicable taxes according to legal requirements
• Ensure company policies and procedures are implemented efficiently and in line with generally accepted accounting practices (e.g., FIRS)
• Assist in instituting adequate financial control systems and processes to secure assets and ensure efficient organizational operation
• Support development of key financial processes including budgeting, management accounting, and financial reporting
• Prepare monthly reports and analyses
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual budgeting and variance reporting

Required Qualifications

• Minimum National Diploma
• Minimum of 2 years post-NYSC work experience in a relevant field
• Experience with accounting software (such as QuickBooks)

Preferred Qualifications

• B.Sc degree in Accounting or Economics
• Professional qualification such as ICAN or ACCA

Required Skills

• Knowledge of budgeting, financial forecasting, and cost control
• Ability to work independently
• Proficiency with accounting software systems
• Strong analytical and attention to detail
