Anesthetic Technician / Nurse at Eye Foundation Hospital

Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified Anesthetic Technician to provide comprehensive patient support and monitor vital signs before, during, and after surgery. The primary responsibility is to ensure smooth and quick patient recovery while maintaining the wellbeing and safety of patients throughout the perioperative period.

Responsibilities

Before Surgery

• Prepare equipment needed for patients to safely undergo anesthesia
• Assist in setting up the anesthetic machine
• Prepare intravenous drugs
• Assist in preparing a range of devices to maintain the patient's airway (e.g., laryngeal masks, endotracheal tubes)
• Communicate with patients upon arrival at the operating theatre
• Prepare anesthetics checklist protocols
• Establish and secure an airway under the supervision of the Consultant Anesthesiologist
• Position patients appropriately to prevent discomfort or injury during procedures

During Surgery

• Monitor and maintain patients' vital signs
• Collect and analyze patient blood samples
• Acquire and administer transfusion fluids and equipment
• Work closely under the supervision of the Consultant Anesthesiologist

After Surgery

• Facilitate patient waking after surgery
• Remove airway devices
• Transfer patients to post-operative care units
• Perform care and maintenance of critical tools

Qualifications

• Certificate in Anesthetic Technology from a reputable university teaching hospital
• Minimum 2 years of work experience in the same role
• Strong knowledge of perioperative procedures
