Accountant Payable Executive at The Confederation of African Football (CAF)

About the Role

A reputable organization seeks a dedicated individual for this Accounts Payable Executive position. This role involves supporting the organization's payment operations and financial processes while collaborating closely with the finance department.

Key Responsibilities

• Process payment vouchers from vendors and staff members
• Support the flow of payments and execute payments for staff and vendors through transfers and cheques
• Receive, stamp, and process invoices from departments to proceed with payments
• Prepare and maintain journal entries for accruals before posting
• Assist in the preparation of periodic payment and reconciliation reports
• Record entries related to finances and payments into the General Ledger
• Track payments to internal and external parties and maintain accurate records
• Support stakeholders with the investigation of payment claims and verify the authenticity of claims raised
• Communicate and coordinate with departments to resolve payment-related issues
• Prepare daily transaction lists and assist in reviewing expenses and payables
• Update financial data in databases to ensure accuracy and availability
• Assist the Finance Department in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual book close activities
• Reinforce financial data confidentiality and conduct database backups when necessary
• Engage with finance department stakeholders on payment-related matters
• Support the finance team with additional finance-related tasks as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned by the direct supervisor

Required Qualifications

• Minimum First Degree in Accounting or Commerce
• Minimum 3 years of working experience managing vendor and staff payments
• Minimum 3 years of experience in finance or accounting-related areas, preferably in an international organization

Preferred Qualifications

• MBA qualification
• Professional accounting certification (CPA, ACCA, ISSA, or CIMA)
