About the Position

The University Librarian is a Principal Officer of the University. This role is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the overall administration and coordination of the University Library, its branches, and extensions, while providing comprehensive services to the entire University community.

Key Responsibilities

• Overall administration and coordination of the University Library
• Management of library branches and extensions
• Provision of services to the entire University community

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with honours in a related field
• Master's degree in Library Studies (MLS)
• Ph.D. in Library Science or related discipline
• Minimum 15 years of cognate experience in academic library management
• Current rank of Deputy University Librarian or equivalent
• Scholarly publications in reputable journals

Professional Requirements

• Active membership in the Librarian Registration Council of Nigeria
• Active membership in the Nigeria Library Association
• Advanced proficiency in computer literacy and relevant applications for modern university library operations
• Sound physical and mental health
• Not more than 65 years of age at the time of assumption of duty
