Technical Safety Lead Engineer

Position Overview

Join an established company in a managerial technical safety role. You will lead a team of 2 direct reports (Engineer and Designer) and be responsible for maintaining technological and operational risk assessment compliance across all operating sites.

Key Responsibilities

Risk Assessment & Compliance

• Maintain technological and operational risk assessment compliance studies using approved DGEP guidelines and methodology for all operating sites
• Lead specific Safety Engineering studies and reviews in support of Request for Modification (RFM) process and Downgraded Situations (DGS) including HAZOP, HAZID, and BowTie Assessment
• Ensure compliance with applicable local and international regulations and Company Standards for Safety Engineering
• Support Project departments in Derogation preparation

Safety Engineering & Design

• Facilitate safety studies and reviews to assist with management of change requests
• Perform effective safety engineering design studies and follow up with all safety engineering design requirements through project construction
• Make input on Safety Engineering documents for Project asset design, operations, and abandonment in conformity with Group, Industry, and Statutory requirements
• Identify Safety Critical Elements (SCEs), develop and validate Safety Concept and Safety Dossier
• Review and provide necessary inputs to all safety-related modifications and corresponding engineering documents including P&ID, ESD Logic, Fire and Gas Cause and Effects Charts, Active and Passive Firefighting, Fire and Gas Detection, Escape and Evacuation Routes, Hazardous Area Classification, Safety Layout, and Flare Radiation

Modelling & Analysis

• Undertake flammable and toxic gas dispersion, fire and explosion consequence modelling using PHAST software and interpret results for safe operation of the Project
• Assist in the update of Operational Safety Case

Contractor Management

• Follow up with contractor activities and deliverables to ensure compliance with project specifications
