Job Overview

We are seeking a qualified preschool teacher to join Birchwood Montessori Academy in Lagos. The preschool teacher is responsible for creating a safe and nurturing environment for young children to learn and grow. You will develop and implement a curriculum that promotes cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development, while fostering creativity, imagination, and a love of learning.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities and lessons aligned with the preschool's curriculum and state standards
• Create a safe and engaging classroom environment that supports young children's social and emotional development
• Establish positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues, maintaining regular communication with parents and guardians
• Observe and assess children's development and progress, using this information to plan individualized learning experiences
• Maintain accurate records of children's progress, attendance, and developmental milestones
• Collaborate with colleagues to plan and implement school-wide events and activities
• Attend professional development opportunities and stay current with best practices in early childhood education

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in early childhood education or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Relevant teaching experience, preferably in a preschool setting
• Passion for working with young children and commitment to their holistic development
• Knowledge of child development theories and best practices in early childhood education
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and families
• Organizational and time management skills to plan and implement a variety of activities and lessons

Physical Demands

The preschool teacher will spend most of their workday on their feet, interacting with children and leading activities.
