Senior Officer, Business Development at Africa Youth Growth Foundation

Position Summary

The Senior Officer, Business Development will play a strategic role in driving the organization's resource mobilization, strategic partnerships, and donor engagement efforts. The position is responsible for identifying funding opportunities, leading proposal development, fostering donor and partner relationships, and ensuring alignment of business development activities with the organization's mission, goals, and thematic priorities.

The role requires excellent communication, networking, analytical, and proposal writing skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the development of high-quality concept notes and proposals
• Work closely with program and finance teams to ensure technical and budget compliance with donor requirements
• Maintain a pipeline of upcoming donor opportunities aligned with organizational focus areas
• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective donors including bilateral, multilateral, corporate, and foundation partners
• Coordinate regular engagement meetings, donor updates, and reporting in collaboration with Programs teams
• Represent the organization at external meetings, donor forums, and networking events
• Contribute to the development and execution of fundraising strategy
• Identify and track emerging trends and opportunities in the development and humanitarian sectors
• Work with internal teams to ensure cross-departmental coordination on business development initiatives
• Support training and mentoring of staff on proposal writing and donor compliance
• Maintain a central database of funding opportunities, proposals, donor intelligence, and reporting deadlines
• Ensure timely submission of concept notes, proposals, and reports to donors and partners

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in International Development, Social Sciences, Business Administration, or related field (Master's degree preferred)
• Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience
