Senior Network Engineer

Position Overview

Layer3 is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to plan, direct, and coordinate activities required to fulfill and support comprehensive network services to enterprise customers. This role involves managing existing network infrastructure systems, developing new network solutions, and overseeing system and network administration.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide extensive hands-on engineering-level support on switching and routing technologies including BGP, OSPF, MPLS/VPLS, spanning tree protocols (MSTP, RSTP), 802.1x, 802.11, 802.16, VPN, DMVPN, SDN, VRRP/HSRP, WAN Acceleration, QoS, VoIP, VTC, cloud technologies, and network automation
• Analyze and troubleshoot network communications failures and bottlenecks
• Review system logs to identify potential issues and resolve reported network problems
• Execute switching tasks including VTP, ISL/802.1q, IPSec and GRE Tunneling, VLANs, EtherChannel, Trunking, Port Security, STP, and RSTP
• Configure LAN/WAN/WLAN links using VSI/L2VC for MPLS L2VPN environments
• Assist in developing technical strategies for the design, configuration, and maintenance of LAN, WAN, and wireless networks to ensure stability, integrity, and operational effectiveness
• Participate in the design and configuration of internal and external networks for assigned projects
• Supervise IP/MPLS services implementation, including installations, testing, and handover
• Perform proactive corrective maintenance for IP/MPLS networks
• Develop automation tools and internal systems to support network maintenance and integration activities
• Lead network planning, configuration, and implementation initiatives
• Design and develop routing topology for Core, Access, Metro, and Edge networks

Additional Requirements

• Available for on-call duties on an as-needed basis
