About the Role
The Senior Grant Officer is responsible for managing project budgets from preparation through activity implementation, including donor financial reporting and project close-out. This role requires strong financial oversight, attention to detail, and collaboration with multiple stakeholders to ensure compliance with donor and organisational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop robust project budgets in collaboration with the Programme Unit for new business development across all channels' cost centres using approved MSI internal budget templates
- Phase all approved donor budgets by Channel/DRL in collaboration with programmes and transfer to the MSI project upload template for SUN upload within established timelines
- Monitor all project-related expenses by validating and providing donor/account codes on submitted requests (PRF/PR) to prevent overspending and unauthorised recording
- Track all approved requests in the pipeline using the PRF tracker to monitor procurement submissions awaiting posting to SUN
- Review and approve all recoding journals and ensure they are properly saved in the recoding month folder before posting to SUN
- Maintain up-to-date Budget Variance Analysis (BVA) and Project Financial Reports (PFR) for each project with properly completed sections and detailed, quantifiable variance commentary
- Prepare consolidated project status summaries by project and channel
- Prepare error-free donor reports and submit to the Finance Manager for approval two days before MSI deadlines
- Prepare monthly Budget Variance Analysis reports
- Review and sign financial transaction documents to ensure compliance
- Review all postings to SUN to ensure alignment with donor and organisational requirements
- Provide project status reports and work with stakeholders to ensure smooth project operations
