Senior Credit Analyst - SME Loan

Position Overview

A dynamic team is expanding and seeking experienced credit analysis professionals to join Koins Microfinance Bank in Lagos, Nigeria. In this role, you will assess the creditworthiness of Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) clients and provide comprehensive credit recommendations to support informed lending decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Statement Analysis

• Analyze financial statements, credit reports, and relevant data to assess creditworthiness of SME clients
• Evaluate profitability, liquidity, and leverage ratios to determine repayment capacity
• Recommend eligible loan amounts for approval

Credit Risk Assessment

• Evaluate credit risk associated with SME loan requests
• Provide recommendations on credit limits, terms, and conditions
• Assess economic, socio-political, and regulatory factors affecting client operations and business continuity

Collateral Recommendation

• Recommend appropriate collateral mix acceptable by the bank to mitigate default risk
• Ensure assets pledged as collateral are adequately valued by the Bank's accredited valuers
• Verify that collateral values meet the Bank's stipulated coverage requirements

Loan Interview and Due Diligence

• Communicate with clients to gather financial information and clarify credit report discrepancies
• Provide credit decisions to clients
• Conduct business premise visits for advanced due diligence based on loan amount and bank thresholds

Portfolio Review and Reporting

• Review SME portfolio performance on a monthly basis
• Generate management reports detailing collection efficiency rates for monthly processed SME loans

Requirements and Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or HND, preferably in Banking and Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or Economics (other disciplines may be considered)
• Minimum 5 years' experience as an SME analyst
• Completion of Microfinance Certification Program (advantageous)
• Associate Member of CIBN (ACIB) or RIMAN (advantageous)
