Security Research & Data Analyst at Halogen security

Job Summary

The Security Research & Data Analyst will support Halogen's Advisory unit by conducting data-driven research and security intelligence analysis. This role contributes to the organization's strategic intelligence capability through the collection, analysis, and interpretation of open-source and internal data to produce actionable insights for security reports and advisories.

The position focuses on identifying crime trends, emerging security issues, regional hotspots, and threat profiles across Nigeria. Halogen's advisory unit delivers reliable updates to clients through real-time alerts and comprehensive advisory reports, enhancing their situational awareness and enabling businesses to stay ahead of risks while protecting their people, assets, and operations.

Key Accountabilities

Data Collection and Management

• Collect, sort, and analyze daily security incident data from open-source platforms, field intelligence, and internal databases
• Clean and validate data sources for completeness and accuracy
• Maintain and update datasets ensuring timeliness and consistency for trend analysis and insights reporting
• Develop and refine data templates, classification systems, and documentation procedures as necessary

Security Research and Analysis

• Conduct ongoing research and analysis on national and regional security incidents, trends, and threat actors
• Monitor political, socio-economic, and environmental factors with potential security implications
• Produce timely intelligence briefs that summarize insights from thematic analysis to support decision-making

Reporting and Advisory Development

• Prepare and deliver data-driven intelligence products, including daily alerts, weekly situation reports, and monthly/quarterly advisories using open sources and internal intelligence platforms
• Utilize visualization tools including Excel and Power BI
