Role Summary
The Quality Control Officer is responsible for ensuring that all food products meet established quality, safety, and regulatory standards throughout the production process. This role focuses on inspection, testing, documentation, and continuous improvement to ensure compliance with food safety regulations and company quality policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine quality inspections of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards such as ISO 22000, NAFDAC, and other applicable regulations
- Monitor hygiene, sanitation, and food handling practices across production areas
- Perform product testing, record results, and prepare quality reports
- Identify quality deviations, investigate root causes, and recommend corrective and preventive actions
- Maintain accurate quality documentation, batch records, and audit logs
- Support internal and external audits and regulatory inspections
- Collaborate with production teams to enforce quality standards without disrupting output
- Train staff on quality control procedures, food safety, and compliance requirements
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or HND in Food Science, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or related field
- Minimum of 4–5 years' experience in quality control within the food manufacturing or processing sector
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and quality management systems
