Product Sourcing & Procurement Officer at Softhills Limited

Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced and resourceful Product Sourcing & Procurement Officer to identify profitable products and reliable suppliers from Nigerian markets, online platforms, and international sources. In this role, you will source vendors, negotiate competitive prices, purchase stock, and ensure quality standards while maintaining strong supplier relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Supplier & Product Sourcing

• Source profitable products from local markets and distributors (e.g., Trade Fair, Balogun, Alaba, Orile)
• Identify products from Nigerian online vendors and international platforms (e.g., Alibaba, 1688, Turkey, Dubai, China, UK, US)
• Build and maintain a database of trusted suppliers including pricing, minimum order quantities (MOQs), lead times, and reliability notes
• Identify new product trends and recommend items that align with target customer needs

Negotiation & Purchasing

• Negotiate prices, credit terms, discounts, bundles, and delivery terms with suppliers
• Place purchase orders and follow through until goods are received
• Ensure all purchases meet budget and margin targets

Quality Control

• Inspect samples and bulk goods for defects, authenticity, and compliance with brand standards
• Reject or return substandard items and resolve disputes with suppliers

Logistics Coordination

• Coordinate with logistics partners and agents to move goods from vendors to warehouse
• Track deliveries and ensure timelines are met
• Coordinate with freight forwarders and clearing agents for international sourcing

Reporting & Documentation

• Submit weekly sourcing reports including items sourced, vendors contacted, costs, and expected margins
• Maintain records of transactions, receipts, supplier agreements, and delivery confirmations

Requirements

Must-Have

• Proven experience in sourcing or procurement for retail or e-commerce (Nigeria experience preferred)
• Strong negotiation skills with ability to achieve competitive pricing while maintaining supplier relationships
• Good understanding of supply chain and logistics operations
