This vacancy presents a chance to join a leading organization. Position Overview:
  • We're seeking an experienced and skilled Piggery Breeder Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of our pig breeding program.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the health, well-being, and productivity of our breeding stock, as well as implementing best practices in pig breeding and husbandry.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise daily piggery operations: Oversee the care and management of breeding stock, including feeding, health monitoring, and breeding programs.
  • Implement breeding programs: Develop and implement breeding strategies to improve herd quality, fertility, and productivity.
  • Monitor animal health: Identify and address health issues promptly, working with veterinarians and other experts as needed.
  • Manage records and data: Maintain accurate records of breeding, farrowing, and animal health, and analyze data to inform breeding decisions.
  • Lead and train staff: Supervise and train piggery staff on best practices in pig breeding and husbandry.
  • Ensure biosecurity and animal welfare: Implement and maintain biosecurity protocols and ensure compliance with animal welfare standards.
Requirements:
  • Degree in Animal Science, Agriculture, or related field: A degree in a relevant field, with experience in pig breeding or a related industry.
  • Experience in pig breeding: 3 to 5 years Proven experience in pig breeding, with a strong understanding of breeding principles and practices.
  • Leadership and management skills: Ability to lead and manage a team, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Animal welfare and biosecurity knowledge: Familiarity with animal welfare standards and biosecurity protocols.
