About the Role
The Pen Supervisor is responsible for the daily management, supervision, and welfare of livestock within assigned pens. This role ensures that animals are properly fed, monitored for health issues, and maintained in a clean, safe, and productive environment in line with the farm's biosecurity and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate all pen workers and attendants in daily farm routines
- Ensure timely feeding, watering, and proper handling of animals
- Monitor animal health, identify early signs of disease or distress, and promptly report abnormalities to the Veterinary or Health Department
- Maintain accurate records of feeding, medication, mortality, and production performance
- Ensure strict adherence to farm biosecurity protocols and hygiene practices
- Oversee cleaning, waste disposal, and disinfection schedules within the pens
- Support vaccination, treatment, and other veterinary procedures as directed
- Inspect pen facilities and report repair or maintenance needs
- Train and mentor pen attendants on proper animal management and safety procedures
- Work closely with the Veterinary, Feed Mill, and Production Teams to ensure efficiency
- Prepare and submit daily or weekly reports to the Farm Manager
Required Qualifications
- OND, HND, or B.Sc. in Animal Science, Agricultural Science, or related field
- Minimum 2 years of experience in livestock management or poultry/piggery operations
- Good knowledge of animal health, feeding, and housing systems
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to work long hours, weekends, and with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated commitment to biosecurity and safety compliance
- Maximum age of 35 years
- Willingness to relocate to Abeokuta
