About the Role
Blu Atlantic Hotel in Lagos is seeking a skilled and dedicated Pastry Chef to create exquisite desserts and baked goods for our establishment. This role requires a high degree of precision, creativity, and expertise in pastry arts.
Key Responsibilities
- Production & Preparation: Expertly prepare and bake a wide range of products including cakes, pastries, breads, cookies, tarts, and plated desserts
- Menu & Recipe Development: Innovate and develop new, appealing dessert recipes while ensuring consistency by accurately following and standardizing existing recipes
- Decoration & Presentation: Apply advanced techniques such as piping, glazing, and chocolate work to decorate, plate, and present all items to a high aesthetic standard
- Inventory & Cost Control: Manage the ordering, storage, and proper rotation of all pastry ingredients to minimize waste and adhere to budget requirements
- Hygiene & Safety: Maintain the pastry section of the kitchen in a clean, organized, and sanitary condition while strictly adhering to all food safety and hygiene regulations
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Pastry Chef, Baker, or Confectioner in a professional kitchen or bakery
- Exceptional skills in various baking techniques, including dough preparation, chocolate work, and decorative finishing
- Strong creativity and attention to detail for exquisite presentation
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and maintain quality under pressure
