## Title: Oncology Laboratory Scientist

Role Overview

We are seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist with hands-on experience in oncology testing and molecular diagnostic techniques. The person in this role will support cancer-focused testing including PCR, qPCR, NGS workflows, DNA/RNA extraction, IHC support, and biomarker analysis. This position requires careful attention to detail, strong documentation skills, and solid familiarity with MLSCN regulations and ISO 15189 practices.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Work

  • Run oncology molecular tests, including PCR/qPCR, DNA/RNA extraction, fluorescence-based methods, and NGS-related steps
  • Process and log samples with accurate chain-of-custody documentation
  • Maintain clean workflow areas and follow contamination-control procedures
  • Review and record test results clearly and correctly
  • Participate in method validation and routine performance checks

Quality & Compliance

  • Follow all MLSCN and ISO 15189 requirements during testing
  • Participate in IQC, EQA, and proficiency testing activities
  • Keep detailed records of equipment maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting
  • Complete all quality and regulatory documentation in line with SOPs

Operational Support

  • Help manage stock levels for oncology testing reagents and consumables
  • Assist during internal audits, external audits, and inspections
  • Follow biosafety and biosecurity rules at all times
  • Support junior scientists or interns through training and supervision
  • Enter results, manage reports, and use the laboratory information system effectively

Required Qualifications

  • B.MLS degree from an accredited institution
  • Valid MLSCN practicing license
  • 2–5 years of experience in molecular diagnostics or oncology testing
  • Additional training or certification in PCR, qPCR, or NGS (advantageous)
  • Experience in an ISO 15189-accredited setting (preferred)
