We are looking for a qualified candidate to fill this position.
  • The Microbiologist will be responsible for carrying out microbiological analyses on water and sediment samples, ensuring accuracy, quality control, and compliance with laboratory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct microbiological analysis of water and sediment samples
  • Prepare culture media, reagents, and samples for testing
  • Record, analyse, and report test results accurately
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure proper sterilisation procedures
  • Follow laboratory safety, quality control, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Assist in general laboratory operations when required
Required Skills
  • Good understanding of microbiological testing procedures
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Basic laboratory documentation and reporting skills
Experience:
  • Practical experience in water, sediment and microbiological analysis, including sample handling, culturing, and interpretation of results
  • Experience working in a laboratory environment with established SOPs and quality control procedures
  • Familiarity with proper laboratory documentation, record-keeping, and reporting
  • Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment, sterilisation techniques, and biosafety practices
  • Previous work experience in an environmental, industrial, or testing laboratory is an added advantage
