Medical Radiographer at St Luke's Hospital Asaba

About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Radiology Unit, you will examine various types of diagnostic images, including X-rays, computed tomography (CT) scans, ultrasounds, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans. You will aid in the diagnosis of patients by capturing images of bones, organs, and human tissue using specialized imaging equipment.

This role is essential to patient care and requires strict adherence to established safety regulations and procedures when operating radiation equipment to prevent harmful exposure to ionizing radiation.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic imaging procedures, including MRI, CT, X-rays, and ultrasound
• Obtain patient histories through patient interviews and communicate test results to physicians through comprehensive reports
• Operate imaging machinery and take responsibility for radiation safety in the work area, including checking equipment for malfunctions and errors
• Set accurate radiation levels in accordance with established standards and obtain patient consent prior to diagnostic imaging to fulfill legal requirements
• Monitor patients during and after radiation exposure to ensure proper response to treatment
• Develop films and process digital images to obtain high-quality radiographs presented to physicians for interpretation
• Supervise and monitor the work of radiography assistants and student radiographers
• Record and store patient examination results while ensuring compliance with Data Protection Act and Patient Confidentiality codes
• Produce reports as required and maintain accurate documentation
• Attend all relevant training on treatment and equipment to stay current with best practices
• Seek patient cooperation and trust while demonstrating sensitivity and professionalism
