Mechanical Project Engineer

About the Role

Megawatts Nigeria Limited is seeking a qualified Mechanical Project Engineer to supervise and execute MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) works on construction projects in Lagos, Nigeria.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and execute MEP works on site including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, drainage, and fire protection systems in accordance with approved shop drawings and project specifications
• Plan daily, weekly, and monthly site activities in coordination with the Project Manager and construction team, including allocation of manpower, materials, and equipment
• Study and interpret MEP drawings, specifications, and schedules; identify and flag discrepancies while ensuring only the latest approved drawings are used for construction
• Coordinate with QA/QC engineers for inspections and testing activities to ensure MEP installations comply with applicable codes and standards
• Coordinate material requests, deliveries, and site storage according to project schedule; verify quality of delivered materials against approvals and submittals; monitor subcontractor performance
• Assist in testing and commissioning of MEP systems including pressure testing, flushing, energization, and functional testing; support preparation of as-built drawings and handover documentation
• Ensure compliance with site HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) requirements and company safety policies; verify permits, toolbox talks, and risk assessments are followed
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports and maintain site records
• Track work progress against project schedule and highlight delays or risks
• Maintain site logs, inspection requests, change orders, and technical records

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
• 3–6 years of experience as a Mechanical Site Engineer in construction projects
• Proven experience in site execution of MEP systems in commercial, residential, or industrial projects

Technical Competencies

Strong knowledge of MEP systems and construction best practices required.
