Job Summary

Our client is seeking a proactive and technically sound Mechanical Engineer to join their growing engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, installing, testing, and maintaining mechanical systems and equipment that support oil and gas operations.

This role requires hands-on experience with industrial systems, strong analytical thinking, and a commitment to maintaining high safety and quality standards in line with industry best practices.

The position is based in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. Preferred candidates will be resident in this location or willing to relocate.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, analyze, and oversee mechanical systems and installations for oil and gas facilities
• Prepare and review technical drawings, equipment specifications, and engineering documents
• Supervise the fabrication, installation, and maintenance of mechanical systems, rotating equipment, and piping systems
• Conduct performance tests, troubleshooting, and root cause analyses of mechanical failures
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (civil, electrical, instrumentation) to ensure seamless project execution
• Monitor contractors' work to ensure compliance with design, quality, and safety standards
• Provide technical input in tender processes, feasibility studies, and cost estimation
• Ensure adherence to HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) procedures and regulatory standards
• Participate in project planning, scheduling, and progress reporting
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and operational efficiency

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's Degree (B.Eng or B.Sc) in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution
• Minimum of 5–10 years' relevant experience in mechanical engineering within the oil and gas, petrochemical, or energy industry
• COREN and NSE membership
