Maintenance Officer at Excel and Grace Consulting

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Officer to join our hotel team in Benin City. The ideal candidate must have strong hands-on experience in hotel facility maintenance, possess great attention to detail, and be capable of ensuring all hotel equipment, rooms, and public areas are functioning at optimal standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out daily routine maintenance and inspections across guest rooms, public areas, and hotel facilities
• Diagnose and repair electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and HVAC issues
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies from guests and staff
• Ensure all equipment and systems (generators, water pumps, AC units, lighting, etc.) are working efficiently
• Maintain an updated record of maintenance activities and repairs
• Supervise external technicians or contractors when necessary
• Ensure compliance with safety and health standards within the hotel
• Conduct preventive maintenance to reduce breakdowns and prolong equipment lifespan
• Assist in overseeing the general upkeep and cleanliness of the hotel surroundings
• Report major maintenance issues to management and recommend solutions

Requirements & Qualifications

• 2–5 years proven experience as a Maintenance Officer or Technician in the hospitality/hotel industry
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, plumbing, air-conditioning, and general repairs
• Ability to troubleshoot and carry out basic mechanical and technical tasks
• Good understanding of safety regulations and building standards
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure
• Good communication skills and professional attitude
• Reliable, responsible, and able to work with minimal supervision
• OND, Technical Certification, or Trade Test in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering is an added advantage
