Role Overview
The Legal Officer, under the supervision of the Head of Legal Department/Company Secretary, is responsible for providing comprehensive legal support and advice to the company. This role encompasses secretarial and corporate functions, advisory services, litigation and dispute resolution management, and legal drafting.

Key Responsibilities
- Draft a variety of legal agreements and contracts
- Provide advice on corporate legal issues and business matters
- Provide internal advisory services to company departments
- Monitor the maintenance of registers and records required under the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) and other applicable statutes
- Assist in the development of guidelines, policies, and procedures
- Advise on the most appropriate dispute resolution strategies
- Liaise with external solicitors to ensure litigation matters are handled with expertise
- Coordinate Board and Board Committee meetings, including preparing schedules and timetables
- Attend Committee meetings to prepare minutes and circulate for review prior to subsequent meetings
- File annual returns and post-incorporation documents with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC)
- Conduct due diligence on prospective customers for legal relationships
- Ensure company compliance with all statutory and corporate governance practices and guidelines observed in the financial industry
- Perform additional duties as assigned
