We invite applications from suitably qualified candidates. Position Overview:
  • We are on a transformative journey and seeking to hire a young professional to join our diverse team as a Legal Counsel. In this role, you will work closely with the Head of Legal and other professionals and collaborate with other departments across the Group to support the day-to-day planning and delivery of projects using best practices.
  • This role will afford you satisfactory growth as a Legal Counsel through exposure to several oil and gas, renewable energy and maritime transactions. The Head of Legal and other seasoned professionals will provide guidance and direction on the day-to-day support this role will contribute to our projects/operations.
Job Responsibilities:
  • As a Legal Counsel, you will be responsible for:
  • Conducting legal research and providing insightful briefs.
  • Drafting and review of legal documents and correspondences
  • Corporate governance and legal advisory on corporate and company restructuring.
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating Energy and Maritime-related Contracts.
  • Advisory on Regulatory Compliance across Oil & Gas, power and Maritime Sectors.
  • Review of Court processes and liaising with external counsels on any dispute resolution
  • Performing other duties that the Head of Legal may assign.
Requirements: What are we looking for?
  • Bachelor's degree in law and a call to bar Certificate from Nigerian Law School.
  • 4-6 years post call experience in corporate and commercial law, oil & gas and/or Maritime Projects/Operations is desired.
  • An understanding of oil and gas bids and tender processes
  • A strong understanding on corporate governance and regulatory compliancd.
  • Prior experiences in JVs, Mergers, acquisitions, SPVs, PPP will be an added advantage
  • Proficiency in using MS Office Suite – Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other contract or EDMS tools are required
  • Time management and communication (written & oral) skills.
  • High analytical, proactive, attention-to-details and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a team.
