Head, Well Engineering

Mission / Purpose of the Job

The Head of Well Engineering is responsible for providing strategic and technical leadership for all well engineering activities across the asset. This role ensures safe, efficient, and cost-effective planning and execution of drilling, completions, workover, intervention, and abandonment operations.

The position drives the delivery of wells to the required depth, schedule, and budget while ensuring full compliance with HSE standards, regulatory requirements, and corporate well delivery processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare well engineering design and operational plans for drilling operations, including well planning, casing design, material and equipment selection, log evaluation, quality assurance, and post-job evaluation
• Define rig selection criteria and requirements
• Manage the Well Delivery Process (WDP) and Project Maturation Process (PMP) to ensure compliance with established procedures
• Ensure all engineering activities align with HSE policies and procedures
• Provide technical input throughout well construction, completions, well intervention, and abandonment phases
• Support commercial and procurement teams with technical guidance as needed
• Communicate effectively with well site and project stakeholders, making recommendations for operational excellence and flawless service delivery
• Conduct cost and risk analysis and prepare AFE documentation for operations
• Develop well-designed plans and procedures to enhance asset value
• Manage drilling management systems including reporting, benchmarking, lessons learned, competence assurance, well design, operations standards, technical manuals, and well files
• Provide input to major hazard management, including prevention, detection, control, mitigation, and response to major accidents
• Oversee service quality and delivery standards
