Job Summary
The Head of Accounts will play a key role in ensuring effective, efficient, and professional operations of the Accounts Department, contributing to the achievement of the highest standards of finance management.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare daily, monthly, and yearly financial reports and ensure timely completion of necessary filings and payments
- Supervise Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Inventory functions
- Manage the working capital of the business
- Drive financial planning by analyzing company performance and risks
- Manage relationships with financial partners
- Ensure adherence to all applicable financial laws and guidelines
- Promote collection efficiency across the organization
- Stimulate and monitor budget processes company-wide
- Prepare and oversee budget planning
- Maintain asset registers, manage asset transfers and disposals
- Maintain and manage asset depreciation schedules
- Process monthly staff salary payments, tax deductions, and related calculations
- Utilize accounting software and financial management systems to streamline processes and enhance accuracy
- Collaborate with external auditors during audits and provide necessary documentation and explanations of financial transactions
- Provide relevant management reports to senior leadership
- Perform special projects and tasks as assigned
Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum of HND or BSc in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in accounting
- Professional certification such as ICAN (Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria) or ACA (Associate Chartered Accountant) is an advantage
- Proficiency in accounting software including Sage, Zoho, Microsoft Excel, and ERP systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
