## Title: Head of Expenditure and Payables

About the Role

A reputable organization seeks a dedicated individual to lead expenditure and payables operations. You will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions in line with company policies, rules, guidelines, and regulatory standards.

Key Objectives

  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions in accordance with company policies and regulatory standards
  • Produce management reports accurately and timely, as well as any additional reports requested by management for decision-making purposes
  • Supervise designated staff members

Core Responsibilities

Payroll Management

  • Ensure staff salaries are paid promptly
  • Ensure timely remittance of staff pension contributions

Inventory Management

  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and integrity of stock records and balances, including airtime vending

General Ledger Operations

  • Review and proof all GL schedules; detect and correct errors promptly
  • Ensure all transactions posted to expense accounts and their respective project codes are accurate with no duplications
  • Prepare and distribute expense reports to required heads of department monthly

Financial Administration

  • Collect WHT credit notes due to Unified Payments
  • Ensure the Fixed Asset Register is correctly updated and reconciled to GL records
  • Provide management with timely, accurate, and relevant financial information for decision-making and planning purposes

Payments and Settlements

  • Ensure all approved staff and vendor payments are processed within agreed timelines
  • Settle USD merchants weekly in accordance with contractual terms of agreement
  • Administer staff loans in compliance with management approvals

Compliance and Tax

  • Ensure tax remittances comply with statutory requirements and avoid penalties

Additional Responsibilities

  • Partner with HR to attract, hire, motivate, engage, and retain employees within your unit/department
  • Perform any other tasks as assigned by management from time to time
